Internationalis Nationalism, (or), Nativist Internationalism (?)

Internationalist nativism sounds like an oxymoron, but it could be the next big thing in right-wing politics. In the U.S., it is on full display in the immigration debate. Just in the past couple of weeks, we had the illustrative episodes of the Lou Dobbs hysteria over a non-existent leprosy epidemic, Bill O’Reilly’s angst over beseiged white, male Christianity, and Pat Buchanan’s reminiscences of Mexican serial killers. (There’s your liberal media, elevating certifiable lunatics as respectable commentators.)
