In the blog diaries of an eccentric nerd athaba hijibiji, zooeylive writes aout her experiences in a feminist theory class she took:

She went round the table and when it came to me, I said, I think it is incredible that how the anthology leaves out the 1930s working class American women writers, predominantly white, but not always,a lot of whom were also active within Communist Party of USA or some mass organization affiliated with CPUSA. But what was even more surprising to me was that most of the students in my seminar had not heard anything about the big “proletarian novel” renaissance of the 1930s.
